With the summer heat in full force,
the marching Huskies completed their
second band camp in school history.
The finale was held in grand style,
Friday, August 14th, with a parent
performance and picnic.
In its first year with four classes -
Freshman through Seniors - nearly 100
band members completed the week
long rehearsals in preparation for the
upcoming football season. Camp included a
combination of band room rehearsals
and marching drills on the football
practice field.
This season's half-time show will include
a special presentation by the percussion
section, along with songs performed by
the full band. The marching routine
was custom written for the Huskies
band.
The highlight of the band camp featured
what's called drill down and a parent
performance. Drill down is a marching
band version of Simon-Says in which all
band members participate. Clarinet
player, Brad Herget, a junior, was the
last man standing.
"I got lucky!" Brad exclaimed as he
walked by band director and Patterson
Mill music department chair, Mr. Ron
Burke.
For Brad's effort, he will receive $25 off
the cost of the band's international
music festival trip to Boston planned for
April of 2010.
Just prior to the parent performance,
the Patterson Mill Band Boosters
hosted a cookout for the band
members and their families.
